The great wedding dilemma
I’m going to put a dent in the Saskatchewan Wedding Photography world. If I’m going to do it, it’s going to be big. There are too many “ifs”…
I’m going to do it.
Any Bozo Can Snap a Picture…
I was always the first person to laugh at anyone that said, “I’m a photographer”, as if it is such a challenge to aim your camera at something and snap the picture. I believed that the camera did all the work and if I were to spend that much on a camera, I’d be a pro just as easily. Obviously, you are probably smacking your head by now, if you’ve ever ventured into the depths of the wild world of photography.
No Place Like the Homestead
When the dreams you had been building are yanked away, you often find yourself going home. In this case, we all found ourselves with a whole lot of time and a farm that, despite being an eyesore, kept calling us home.
Mental Health isn’t for men
Still to this day, I have moments that I struggle with; times that are more difficult to overcome. As I’m sitting at my laptop writing this, I’m feeling a rush of memories that have triggered a slight tingle in my face. I know what it is now and I know I’ll be just fine. Mental health is a topic that affects everyone equally. It’s a serious and very scary thing to go through, no matter how you view yourself, what gender you are, or your social status.
I’ve got a free ticket
When you’re in your early 20’s, no one is tossing you the keys to a supercar, or telling you to go bury a pickup in mud for the shot. When you put a camera in your hand, people are eager for these things.
Finding inspiration
After my recent move, I was hit with a surge of creativity, followed by the drop. Nearly a week passed where I was incapable of creating. My drive to go out and explore went numb and I just sat around and waited for the motivation to pull the camera out of my bag and shoot something.
They all laughed at me
I really noticed the difference when I learned about Facebook’s feature to compare your page to other pages. I stuck a few of my competitors names in the feature and saw that even though they had built up a larger following than I had and they posted every single day, I was reaching so much further. More people were seeing me through this cloud of promotions because I was just showing what I did from a unique and real angle.
My first big photo “job”
“We went out and began awkwardly taking pics of the cars where they sat. I guess we were “warming up”. In hindsight, I think we looked like total amateurs.”
Kind of a funny story
This is a story about how I got made fun of for acting like a child among some beefy machinery on a peaceful Sunday exploring the lovely town of Estevan, Saskatchewan. In my defense, we didn’t have these beastly machines nearby where I’m from.
Friends at Murrays
As I’ve said in previous posts, Saskatchewan has been a surprise to me with it’s freedom skies and stunning landscapes. Estevan has been warm and welcoming and Murray GM has been no different.
Visiting Roche Percee
Exploring Roche Percee near Estevan, Saskatchewan wasn’t what I expected… it was so much better!
Moving to Saskatchewan
What is it like living in Saskatchewan? Is Saskatchewan a safe place to live? I answer these questions(and more) about my new home in southern Saskatchewan.
